sub for rio1700

Does anyone know of a acceptable substitute for the rio1700. I am using A
CPR skimmer and the design requires the venturi air intake to produce the
bubbles. I am looking for a pump that can produce a similar effect. The pump
is only 2 months old and I am already having trouble with it.

A Mag 7 is just a tad more powerful, at ~700 GPH compared to the Rio 1700
at ~640 GPH. You could always put a valve inline and throttle it a bit if it
proves to be too much pump.
The 1700s are one of the banes of the Rio line...you should trash it before
it trashes your system.
