Discus not eating and hiding

Hi,

I would like to ask a question to the group. I have recently purchased 3
diskus for my 80 gallon tank, which I keep together a group of lemon tetra,
neon tetra and a few blue rams. I have got 2 wild browns and one pigeon
diskus. In the beginning the biggest of them all (a brown) was the boss and
fought about space with the pigeon one. Now that has changed. The smallest,
but also the one with nicest colors has taken over and is bullying the big
brown one. The pigeon was also bullied in the beginning, but they are no
going well together. It has come so far that the big brown one does not eat
anymore and is hiding especially when I feed them, which I do with flakes
and bloodworms. i also started to keep in the background, just in case the
fish is affraid or stressed by my movements. He/She seems also to be out of
the good company of the other two diskus, still. I am wondering whether
getting another brown diskus could change this as I do not want to loose my
little "investment". Bullying from the others was especially strong in the
beginning, when feeding.

The fish should be fairly young. All of the diskus I was told by LFS are
about 4-5 months old.

I would appreciate some advice!

Sven

Here is a link to a decent forum for Discus:

From your brief description my guess is a heximita infestation On the
forum their is a disease and medication area that will detail the
diagnosis and treatment options. Perhaps you can read up and decide on
how to proceed. There is much to learn.....

I really don,t believe what I,m reading,, The mans got three fish, that
are sorting out the pecking order. Happens everywhere, Now the pecking
orders changed, and the small one has assumed a dominate role.
And your telling him to medicate his fish,,, Why would you want to load
the water with chemicals, once the chemicals are in the water , you will
NEVER rid the tank of them..
How the hell do you come to a conclusion like that, On what bases do you
form your opinion on that the fish are suffering from a heximita
infestation. What ever that might be.

Tell me do you line your kids up every morning and dole out the Prozac, in
case they fight when your not around..

I had a look at that Discus forum,, Nice forum pity everyone on it are
paranoid, about
medicating fish.. There all so busy testing things, they don,t sit and enjoy
there hobby.

Love from OZ bassett
