Ich - please advise
Recently I purchased some new fish - 3 lemon tetras and 3 fish similar
to serpae tetras. A few days later I noticed Ich in my tank. From what I read on the web, the following medications were suggested: QuickCure, CopperSafe, Maracide. I am going to LFS today, I'll see what I can find there. As for the dosage, each web site recommends something different. From once a day for 14 days to every three days. Any suggestions as to which treatment course is best? I have lost two of the above fish (one of each species) soon after I purchased them. Other fish in the tank (20 gallon) a 5 harlequin rasboras 5 rummy nose tetras 3 ottos 1 african dwarf frog One rasbora and one rummy nose tetra are the most heavily hit, the ottos are still clear of ich. Hopefully I can still treat them in time. The tank is heavily planted, and has malaysian trumpet snails. Would the ich medication hurt the frog or the snails? Should I remove them for the course of treatment? Thanks. I've never had ich in my tank before, so any advise would be appreciated. |

I use Quick-Cure, ICK-Guard and Aquari-Sol to get rid of ICK. I always keep at least one of these products on hand. None kill off snails to my knowledge. I don't know about the frog. Koi-Lo.... |
Ich - please advise
I am dealing with the same thing for the same reason, i got ADF in my tank
also, from what i read you have to remove the frogs because the med will hurt them, i did but when i was done treating and put them back in the tank than i had problems with fungus. ill see if i can find the page that had the info about the frogs and treatment, and post it Nikki "Jan" wrote in message oups.com... Thanks for information. I already started treating my fish, so I'll
remove the frog. Hopefully it's not too late. |
