Bio-Wheel Filters Question

As far as I can tell, bio-wheel filters (eg Magnum) are not available in
Australia, yet you folks from the States seem to think they are the bees
knees. Are they better than (say) Eheim or Fluval canisters? And if so I
wonder why the hell nobody sells them here?

They are decidedly better at *biological* filtration than a canister, and
why the marketing is weak outside the USA, I have no idea.

I am in Brisbane and you can get them here. they tend to be sold by the
bigger pet store chains. they are expensive! I make my own trickle filter
out of a 60L container so I have all the filtration I need..
