Sunset Platy seems hurt, please help
This weekend after a long time of having 2 Zebra Danios (I had 3 when I
upgraded to a 10gal tank a few months back, but one disappeared) and an Algea Eater, I decided to decorate the tank more and bought a few new aquatic plants and ended up getting 2 Sunset Platies. I asked for a Male and a Female and it seems like they are (one is skinny-ish and the other has a belly) and when introduced to my Danio everything seemed fine. On a side note: Anyone know how to tell Zebra Danio sex? I am kinda certian the 2 that remain are males but I wanna know. Well I also got 3 small Cory Fish and they are happyly swimming around the bottom, not really bothering or being bothered. Well this morning I wake up to see what I assume is the male Sunset Platy at the far left coner of the tank, just skimming the surface and kinda avoiding the other one. I thought maybe he was nervous but I looked closer and saw these red markings it didn't have before in the middle of its body (they have orange at thier tails and it gradutes to a clear white at their bodies with black spots inbetween). From what I have been seening nothing is bothering it, all the others are off doing their things. I'm really stumped, anyone can tell me any advise on what to do? |

Btw my algae eater is a "chinese" algae eater, I've had him for close
to a year now. I read they can become a bit aggressive (I am seeing he doesn't like it when others touch his algae waffer). |

Thank you for responding, very helpful. Yea I do have male and female
Platy, and both Danios have Silvery Stripes. Well I cannot really pin point a suspect as to who attacked who (but my Algae Eater is being watched to see if it is repeated, though I hope not). Well my Male Platy is still alive, though pretty scratched up. Is there anything I can do for him or just leave him alone and see how he turns out? |

I thought of that after I sent the message. I forgot that the old days are gone, the days when Danios were zebra or giant and none had long fins or strange colors. -- Mister Gardener |
