help, angel showing signs of.... something

Hi folks, my Angel has developed something overnight which looks like a
small white puff blocking its left nostril. From my preliminary
diagnosis, I think it may be a fungus.

The spot is just the size of its left nostril, it does not really
protrude past the edge of the nostril. It is white in color but does
not appear to be ick.

My water parameters have not changed, but I did add some phosphate
absorbant media to try and combat some ongoing algae issues.

I plan on treating as a fungus, does this sound correct?

It's a good beginning, as long as you're certain it's not a booger.
I'd go with Melafix, maybe Pimafix at the same time, but others may
suggest a more traditional fungus medication. And if you haven't done
a water change recently, this is a good time, before you begin
treating with anything. And remove carbon from your filter, blah blah
blah. The directions on whatever you use will tell you what to do.

I used the applus+ antifungal, you use it twice 48 hours apart and it worked
well for me, i had a betta who was going to die, and he is now growing
fins/tail back and eating very healthy.

keep temp stable, salt may be useful
at higher temps fungus will grow quicker.
maybe even a short salt dip may help
kinda drastic but will depend how quickly it grows..... most fungal
treatments should work.
not convinced it's fungal really though..... if ya could post a pic to the
aquaria binaries newsgroup and then post here with a link to it, someone
will be able to give ya a 2nd diagnosis I imagine.
:)
