African Cichilid Suggestions please!!
I have decided w/ 36g Hex is going to be a african tank. I am going to
get the tank tomorrow and am getting filter/gravel etc for it on monday. Question is what kinds should i get? Because of the shape of the tank (think it is 2 feet tall and about the same across) I guess I can't have as many as a long tank. So was thinking anything up to 6 or 7 inches? Any suggestions guys? |

A 6-7 inch fish is rather large for your tank. Consider rock-dwelling Tanganyikans. Tanganyikans are smaller than Malawi mbuna. Have a look at the bright yellow N. leleupi, black and white patterned Julidichromis spp., and N. pulcher "daffodils" with their yellow fins. -- Put the word aquaria in the subject to email me. I was going to reply to this earlier but then my newsserver crashed.... IMO and IME that tank will be too small for Mbunas...my largest (sorry can't tell you the type - he's been reclassified again) is already 6" and I'm starting to think he might need re-homing out of my 4 foot tank...the Melanchronis Cyan..... are smaller (around 2-3") but breed like rabbits.... Too small imo, except for a few Shellies. Also check if your source water is right and reconsider if very soft and acidic. -- www.NetMax.tk |
