Hospital tank...new fish treatment questions

My wife and I just purchased a pretty cool 5 gallon hex tank with bio
wheel filter from walmart for a hospital tank.

What is the best treatment for new fishfrom the LFS? Should i treat them
with a combo of melafix and pimafix???? maybe a different regiment???

I figured this would be a safe bet so i dont kill my live planted 75
gallon livebearer aquarium.

It needs to be cycled somehow. Can you add a ripe filter from another tank?
Some ripe gravel perhaps?

I treat all new fish with Quick Cure or Aquarasol and quarantine them for 14
days, longer if anything looks suspicious.

I actually used about a 3-4ft section of hornwort that was broken into
12" sections and tied together with a plastic zip tie and replanted in
the new tank...it was in my 75 for about 2-3 months...should be ok to
start it until i can get a "cycle fish" for the tank. i also added some
"Cycle" to it to help it along. I have always had good luck with that
product. I got well water that only realluy is a little high in iron but
other then that its clean and works great for livebearers. its even a
good PH for them right out of the tap.

Should I add some Salt to the hospital tank??

I do a 'quarantine preventive treatment' on new fish. Start feeding a
medicated food twice a day for 10 days. For the first 4 or 5 days I do
a 20% water changes. Add a teaspoon of salt per 5 gals. and if the fish
are wild or pond raised, do a two day treatment with Fluke-Tabs. If not
wild or pond raised, I start a half dose treatment of an anti-parasite
medication such as Rid-Ich or QuickCure. Treat half dose days 1, 4, 7,
and 10, with a 20% water change before each dose. ............... Frank
