Sargasso Fish

Hey guys, I have a Sargasso Fish.
My daughter's boyfriend picked it up off the beach at Surfside last weekend.
Must have come in on one of the clumps of seaweed.
I'm researching to find what it eats and such. Anyone here have any
experience with these?

There's a number of different fish that live in the
sargasso weed.

Reef Safe in that it won't hurt your corals. Will easily
eat small fish. May have some venom in it's spines, though
unless you are allergic it's no big issue. Ghost shrimp
would make a good food. Unfortunately most stores don't
sell salt water ghost shrimp. I like the salt water ghost
shrimp because they will live in the salt water aquarium
for a long time until they get eaten.

How about peppermint shrimp? Mine are hiding or have been eaten, though
they are longer than it is.

Yea they will eat peppermint shrimp if they can stuff it
in. They are like lion fish in that they can eat sizable
foods.

I'm finding that this thing will go after anything that moves...if it
floats, and I jiggle it with a chopstick, he'll grab it. No problemo.
He is such a cool fish!
