ARRGH sump pipe popped off!
Hmm i had clipped my sump pipe tightly (so i thought) onto the return pump,
so when i went into work to show my other half my lovely tank i came in to find a lovely shimmering on the floor of salt crystals and an almost empty sump! Luckily for me the water flow in the main tank wasn't too badly affected as the 2 power heads were still circulating the water well. Just out of interest would it be ok as a temporary measure to use a stainless jubilee clip on the pipe until i can find a more robust plastic clip to replace it, i know it will probably rust quite fast but would it affect the fish/inverts? A good quality stainless steal hose clamp is fine. The
better quality ones are not supposed to rust even in the salt water. And a little iron is not toxic in a salt water aquarium.
