Filtration Question
I currently have a 45 gallon aquarium with a VERY large tinfoil barb..some
angels...tetras....gouramis...etc. I have 2 Aqua Clear 200 (?) filters running. I clean my tank at least every 2 weeks and do water changes/add as needed. My water has never been completely crystal clear. I test it weekly and everything is fine. I think my problem is I have fish that provdie a large waste load. I want to add more filtration to my tank and get the water crystal clear again. Any suggestions on what filter system I should buy?? I want something that will keep my tank clean and my water clarity clear. Cyndie |
Filtration Question
A very large tinfoil won't be able to turn around in a 45g tank ;o(
They can reach over 14" + tail. You really need a bigger tank but the biggest canister you can get would be the next option. You could also look into having a sump. Sue |

They can reach over 14" + tail. Mine is 6"...(to me thats large!) If and when she gets bigger she will be moved to a larger tank. Cyndie |

Try running double sponges (carbon sandwiches) in each one. This will double your bio-filter and improve your mechanical efficiency. When you service a filter, only ever clean the bottom sponge, which gets alternated with the top sponge when you put it back into the filter. If it works, then it's a $5 fix :o) ps: make sure that it's a model 200 and not a Mini or a 150, as 2 of these would not be enough for your fishload. NetMax |

Diatom filters filter to sub-micron level so nothing visible is left suspended in the water. They do nothing for chemical or biological filtration, but are useful sometimes. G. |
Filtration Question
Thanks for the advice. I am going to try the "filter sandwich" first and see if
that does the trick. If not, I am going to invest in a diatom filter. Once again...thanks for the help! Cyndie |
