good tool for planting, etc.?
Hi.
I'm heading to the LFS this evening to buy some new plants, and probably a few new fish. One question related to this -- I've been thinking I'd like to get something to help me plant / rearrange gravel, etc. in my tank without sticking my arm in up to my shoulder (my tank is a 75 gallon, and I don't have the longest arms in the world). I've seen the tools that the LFS sells with the plastic tines at the end, but none of them seem terribly long nor do they seem terribly well constructed. So, my question is, does anyone have a good suggestion for a good quality tool I can get to help with planting and general aquascaping? Is there something at the hardware store or maybe a kitchen store (BBQ tools?) that might work better than the usual plastic plant grippers you see at Petco? Any advice appreciated! --chris NB: This email address is dead. If you would like to email me directly, please use: cpalmaATSYMBOLastro.psu.edu |

Another suggestion, plant when doing water changes, when the water isn't as high... That's what I do on 2 tanks, that are shoulder high on a stand.. that and a stool to stand on... Usually, you'll need 3 hands to plant, 1 to hold the plant, 1 to move the stuff FOR you to plant, and anohter to move the stuff BACK to cover the plant when put in the gravel... I've devised that a long stick, plastic preferrably, can be used to gently hold the plant in place while you move gravel around to it... then again, I'm a very ambitious DIYer... -- RedForeman ©® future fabricator and creator of a ratbike streetfighter!!! ========================== 2003 TRX450ES 1992 TRX-350 XX (For Sale) 1987 TRX250R (sold) 1987 CBR600 Hurricane (sold) 1987 VFR700 Interceptor (sold) 1995 TRX300ex (sold) 2000 CBR600F4 silver/red (sold) *sniff*sniff* '98 Tacoma Ext Cab 4X4 Lifted.... ========================== ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤° `°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø "By US Code Title 47, Sec.227(a)(2)(B), a computer/modem/printer meets the definition of a telephone fax machine.
