Vacation Fish Feeding
 

I need some advice on how to feed my fish while I'm away on a week's
vacation. I'm checked out the battery-powered flake food auto-feeder, but it
won't work with my Eclipse style tank. I've looked at the Wardley's brand of
disolving food, but I know some fish won't eat it and it can really cloud
and foul the tank. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Get someone you trust to come over and feed them once or twice during the
week. Make sure they understand that they are NOT give more food than you
demonstrate just because the fish look hungry for more.

What sort of fish do you have? Some fish can go a week without food
without a major problem. Juveniles and some of the more sensitive fish may
not be able to handle it without major stress though.

There are some new vacation feeders on the market now that consist of a gel
puck that sits in your aquarium. Hungry fish just come over and take a
bite of it while the rest sits intact in the tank until you return. Many
stores are not yet stocking this product though.

I agree with DC and would add if you decide
to have someone come in, buy those cheap
weekly pill dispensers and put enough food
in for daily feeding. I typically feed my fish
twice daily, but when I'm away have my pet
sitter feed only once daily. That way there's
no chance of overfeeding.

thanks for your thoughts. i was thinking along the same lines. i have one
angelfish, some cory catfish, one red tail shark and a few silver dollars
who love to eat! thanks for the info!
