MH bulb question.

Hi all, I recently replaced my MH bulb. But the only way the bulb lights
up is by giving it a little screwing pressure. The bulb is screwed in
nicely, but it seems that it needs a touch and pressure to get it
started. It's freaking me out because next week I go on vacation, and I
can't have the tank suffer a week without light. (I have a timer and a
feeder.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Rich

Maybe try to turn off the power to the fixture and than bend the center
connector in the mogul base socket to make it protruding more?
Inspect the socket after removing the bulb for potential contact
problem areas. Compare new bulb with the old one, if you still have it
and check if the thread on the base is the same lenght, etc.
Also check if the wires to the socket are secured - maybe connection
is loose in the wire nut somewhere and you touching the bulb makes
the faulty connection to reappear.

Hi all, I just want to express my appreciation for your suggestions. The
old bulb works like a charm, I don't know why the new bulb has a problem.

Once again, tx.

You might try contacting the manufacture. You might want
to put the old bulb back in while your on vacation.
