Female Sword Behavioral change (Possibly pregnant)

This Sword is pretty large and as I had posted previously appeared to be
pregnant. Now, she seems to have found a spot in the corner of the tank
between the glass and an artificial plant patch, has settled on the bottom
and just sits there in the same spot. Hasnt moved since yesterday. Other
fish come up and bump and touch her and she doesnt move at all. No
discoloration or anything else unusual looking about her other than she
seems to be gasping. Any ideas on wat could be wrong? TIA J

The female sword died. 20 gallon tank. All water parameters are within
toleracne except for hardness, the water is a little hard. I didnt see any
disease until possibly this morning. My female black molly who also appeared
to be pregnant, but its been too long now, no fry, has a white area along
her left side from her mouth back down about halfway to the back of her
body. She is extra large, swelling. Any ideas on what this could be. One
major change I made to the tank was the pump 4 days ago. I had an aqua-clear
40 gpm which then motor died in, then I replaced that with an aqua-tech
20-40 from wal-mart and that stopped pumping so instead of one of the big
stores I went to my LFS and she sold me a Cascade 150 (35 gph). COuld this
have anything to do with it?

This could certainly be the cause, Jeff. When the faulty pump (filter)
was replaced did the filter media (sponge) get changed out too? If so,
then the tank had a decreased ability to manage fish waste and the
ammonia built up to toxic conditions, if only temporarilly. That could
cause any of the normal fish diseases to show up as the fish were in a
weakened stressed condition.

The aqua-tech stopped pumping to what it should have been for about a week
before I replaced it. The water became a little murky and clearly it was
time to replace the filter, which I did with the cascade. When I went from
the aqua-clear to the aqua-tech I used the same media until everything was
normal. When I went from the aqua-tech to the cascade, I didnt use the same
media but replaced it with new, the water is no longer murky, its crystal
clear, but I am guessing this is what your talking about with the decreased
ability to manage fish waste. So what could this white marks on the side of
the black molly be and what can I do about it?

TIA
J

I'm not a fish doctor, sorry Jeff. Hopefully someone else will chime in
with diagnostic and treatment suggestions. When I have one fish get
sick, I take it out of the community tank as soon as I can.
