Sound transfer from air to Aquarium?

I had to suck up some water with the Shop Vac (not fishy related) and I was
expecting the noise to freak out the fish, but they did not seem to react at
all. Does the sound transfer that poorly from the air to the tank? Or does
the frequency of the sound impact their reaction?

This question has been discussed before. At the time I mentioned I
have a 10 gallon tank sitting on my woofer speaker cabinet. I hadn't
noticed any disturbance to the fish, but watched more carefully. I
still don't see the vibrations to disturb them.

Motion around the tank definitely bothers them, they hide at the back
of the tank.

Thanks Dick, this rings a bell.

To be honest, I think ringing a bell *might* disturb your fish somewhat, so
be careful with that :oP
