Tetra HY511
I recently purchased five tetras named Tetra HY511. I can find no
information on these fish. My LFS fish manager said they were a newly discovered tetra and that they did not even have a proper name (hence, the HY511 designation). Can anyone provide ANY information? TIA |

Hi..
[...Species HY511...] Are you familiar with any other species of it's likely genus..? No. Any thoughts? Well.., if I were you and delighted with a species of a genus I've never before had any contact I would primary try to collect any information relating to it's likely genus (Hyphessobrycon) and other similar looking species of this genus and so on (magazines, books, internet).. Although each well kept species will show much of it's typical behaviour the most species of one genus will show somewhat of a common (genus) behaviour, too. Hmm.., I'm no tetra specialist but were always interested in fish's behaviour. So my very first impression was - when I saw it's pics - it might possibly be a Pristella species, too.. Seem finally to be your privilege to study it and it's typical behaviour in an environment it might love.. Hope to read more about it/you, too.. Have fun.. -- cu Marco |

I just picked up some of those as well. Very pretty and peaceful fish.
My LFS had them labeled as "Frost Tipped Tetras," but Google doesn't come up with anything searching on that. I've treated them like about any other Tetra of the same family and they are doing well. Cheers! Paul Marco Schwarz wrote: Hi.. [...Species HY511...] Are you familiar with any other species of it's likely genus..? No. Any thoughts?
