What kind of fish was Dorie in the movie Nemo? A Natural Blue Tang? I
haven't found anything that looks like her.

Okay, I know what your thinking, but I'm posting this on behalf of my
kids that keep pelting me with this question.

Hippo tang, or blue tang or regal tang. All different names for same fish.

From my research and kid resistant technique....they get quite big and
need a good size tank - I've seen them as Blue or Regal tangs and are
fantastic fish....my kids get a big no,no for dorie in my 15gall
nano....might consider them in a 55 gall (US) but would still question
that I am giving them enough space....my kids have settled for owning
nemo...1 & 2 - could get no more imaginitive names from them....hubby
calls the Mr and Mrs....which I guess is going to be more accurate....

Well I have to take you up on this one...Nemo's Dad was Marlin and his
Mum Coral....(and I have not enough fingers and toes to count the number
of times I've seen the film). I also got told off tonight by suggesting
that after the death of Coral and the finding of little Nemo - Marlin
now becomes Mum (dominant male) and Nemo (inspite of being the son)
becomes Marlin....I got told off totally even though it was acknowledged
that it was almost certainly factual....however we all agreed that
Disney would never make a film about transexual fish - lol

Our favorite clown is names "Crusty"......what else would you name a
clown..He is named after that human clown on the Simpsons..Other
clowns are BoZo, Pimp Daddy and Spastic

I sure hope there is no Tang Police around hearing that folks want to
put a tang in a 55 ;-) Heck on some forums just the mere thought of
putting one in a 75 gal will bring on a wrath of flames much worse
than one would get in hell. Yu can always get a good but somewhat
repetitiouis conversation going with a title like "Will my Blue Tang
have enough room in my 29 gal if I add a yellow tang too? and continue
on with I only have two fish total and the other is a NIger Trigger.
When it was a freshwater setup it had 18 fish in it without a problem.

Dang. My kid was right! She kept saying it was a Hippo Tang and I kept
saying "I don't think so".

I had my eye on Atlantic Tangs, but I'm resisting the urge to buy more
fish.

I forgot more about ponds and koi than I'll ever know!
