Diagnosing CoralLife Light Fixture
 

I have a coralife MH light that is 2 years old. It seems that one of
the power supplies is a little weak although the MH lights are
definitely old. Only one of the power supplies can light up each light,
and after the light has been lit it won't re-light until it cools off.

Where does one buy lights and maybe a new power supply for these?

This fixture is encrusted with salt so I haven't been able to get at the
fluorescents. I used a spray bottle to try to weaken the hold, but no
luck. Any tricks of the trade?

I suppose I could just break/cut the acrylic.... Hm.

Hot water and metal tools.

'tis called a ballast, not a power supply.

It's also OK that the bulbs will not relight until they cool. That's normal.

It sounds like one of the ballasts is dead.

One can buy new ballasts at the local fish store, or pretty much any
online sal****er aqaurium store. My brand preference for ballasts is
IceCap brand. You need to make sure you buy the right ballast -
different type for different wattages and types of MH bulbs.

Not completely dead as it can run the fan, but I suspect your mostly
right and it's on death's door.

The ballast doesn't run the fan. It's a step-up transformer to drive the lights.

They only thing that is connected to the fixture is a ballast and the
fan comes on. It's not worth figuring out, but something is running the
fan.

I have a coralife hydrogen light, is 2 years old. It appears that a power supply is a bit weak, although there are some MH lights of history. Only one power supply to illuminate each light, after light has been lit, will not light until it is cool.
