New Aquarium Update
 

I went and got fish yesterday. I ended up with an assortment of 4
platies (2 M, 2 F) and a male swordtail. I meant to get 2 males and 3
females, but we got confused and ended up with 3 males. So far they
all seem to be doing ok. The 4 platies all seem to like hanging out
together. The swordtail has been hiding in my sunken ships. Assuming
nothing bad happens in the next two weeks, I will probably add two
female swordtails to balance out the sexes.

My ammonia test this morning was positive, but then I checked the
plain tap water to compare, and that registered positive as well, so I
question the accuracy of the test. I'll probably get different test
kit to compare.

On the recommendation of the LFS, I decided to put just a very little
salt in the tank (2 tablespoons/40 gallons).
