Refractometer
I just bought one and figured it out.
My dip SG arm floats are both registering 1.024, but my refractometer is reading 1.027. I suppose I should run a baggy of water down to the LFS and see what they get. --Kurt |

Yea right dumbass. If you followed the instructions that came with the
thing you would not have any need to go have it checked now would you. I bet you would even drive to Waynes place just so he can tell you how to do it and read it for you.....sheeeeeesh are you capable of feeding your self or wiping your ass when you **** Kurt? I seem to doubt it! On Fri, 25 May 2007 19:51:23 -0400, KurtG wrote: I just bought one and figured it out. My dip SG arm floats are both registering 1.024, but my refractometer is reading 1.027. Also those floating hydrometers are good for
checking accuracy, as they don't loose their accuracy. They might not be perfectly accurate, but they don't change. Also remember that water temps will have an effect on readings. One of my swing arms kept registering lower and lower SG, even though I was adding some salt water for the make up water just about every other day. The other swing arm was stable, but the two chronically disagreed. I think the new reading is correct, but definitely higher then I'd like. I'll start slowly bringing it down by removing a few cups of sal****er everyday. --Kurt |
