this says they are "Quite peaceful towards non-agressive fish of a similar size, though still slightly territorial." but read the whole profile "linzi" wrote in message om... hello My husband and i have kept tropical fish for about 19 years and have had peacefull community tanks. In past years my husband kept cichlid tanks with Oscars, Jack Dempsy's blue acaras etc (not all together). We would like to get some blue acaras but the advice we have been given differs as to whether we can keep these fish with other community fish (tetras, corrys, danios, plecs, angel fish, rams etc) Also can you keep more than one pair? and would you buy a few and see if they pair off. We have a 92gallon tank, which is 30" deep. We have a shoul(?-sorry about spelling) of about 20 cardinals and the other fish mentioned above in varying numbers including a breeding pair of angels. i'm sure the tank is large enough for some blue acaras but i don't want to upset things if their temperament isn't suitable. Also what is the best food to feed them? many thanks in advance Linzi |

And when it comes to breeding, you'll have a hard time keeping them from
spawning all over the place! But as the previous poster said, if they can fit a fish in their mouths, they'll eat them. Nice fish though... Great colors.. Linzi,
Go to www.petsolutions.com and get the "liquid food". It is designed for fry, and worked well with my guppies......definitly worth a try. Aaron "linzi" wrote in message m... Hello again Thank you for the advice we got 5 blue acaras in the end and they have been doing very well. 2 seemed to be friendly with each other right from the start and went a very dark colour with thick black stripes. Yesterday we noticed that they have had babies!!!! About 50 little ones are there and the parents seem to be doing a good job of looking after them so far. The major problem seems to come from one of our Rams, it relentlessly tries to dive bomb the babies! The parents are keeping him at bay though. I was wondering if anyone knew what to feed the babies on (if anything) or do you wait until they are a bit bigger. Could they choke on food that is too big (or does that sound stupid!!) many thanks in advance Linzi "Mathias" wrote in message ...
