Large Flake Food
"maibit" wrote in message ... Sorry to repeat myself but all the responses to my post are gone could you please repost or email them to me. TIA Hi: I have Severums and Bood Parrots (separate tanks) but they have one thing in common and that is they will only eat certain sized food. I like to feed them flake food several times a week which rarely happens because so far all the brands of flake food I've purchased (clearly labeled LARGE flakes) have very few large flakes left by the time I get it home. My blood parrots have a really hard time eating or that might be catching food. They won't even go after it if it's not a certain size so can anyone recommend a LARGE flake food that is still in flakes not crumbs. Or is there something out there like SLOW sinking pellets. I need advice on foods to feed these guys. My Severums are just plain picky. If they had their way they'd eat Krill and peas 3 times a day for the rest of their lives. Silly fish. Thanks, maibit Some ideas. Flake food also comes in large pails for use in the LFS. I use Nutrafin Max in 2g pails. Take an empty food container to a sympathetic LFS and they might fill it with the large flakes for you. Another idea is that some LFS package their own brands. I've used Big Al's flake food and the package is transparent so you can see what size you are getting. Your Severums are IMHO spoiled :o) Stop feeding them for several days. They will show a new enthusiasm for whatever you throw in there no matter how slow or fast it sinks. Severums are also not as big an eater as their size would suggest IMO, if being kept in cooler waters and/or by themselves. I could make some disparaging remarks about genetically modified fish who lack operating mouth muscles, even if their mouth were to close, but instead, I'll suggest the following items for your Parrots to inhale; bloodworms, brine & mysis shrimp, mashed krill, quartered tubifex cubes & small floating pellets.
