[OT] How to trash Windows XP.
Hi Pszemol. I thought you'd enjoy this. I needed to install Cisco VPN and Windows updates, so I figure "Hey, we live in the 21st Century and concurrency issues are now rudimentary and easy to handle. Surely Microsoft has this under control." Long story short, I did both simultaneously, hit reboot, and Windows is now trashed complaining that it can't find Explorer.exe. Oops. I haven't reinstalled XP on this box in the last 18 months, so I might as well start with a clean slate. Well, not really clean, this is windows after all. But, a fresh install at least. Wish me luck. --Kurt |

After all, I agreed to reboot the system right in between a critical windows update. It's no matter that the update tool didn't delay the reboot or complete it's job after the boot, It's obviously another pesky user error. It's doubly bad that he blamed MS for it too. Damn users. MS would be better off without them. --Kurt |

Well, you did not mention you reboot in between windows update. That was your mistake. It's doubly bad that he blamed MS for it too. Damn users. MS would be better off without them. Well, users should never be allowed to install such pieces of software. Administrators howver should be much smarter than rebooting the system in the middle of the critical os modules installation process. Anyway - EOT for me. This is heavy NTG. |
