How much Iodine???

It's a 10g mini reef and currently I'm putting in 2ml/wk. It's not even
registering on the test strip and I'm scared to step it up. Anyone else with
a small tank, and your opinion?

No one chimed in so I'll give it a shot.

I believe Iodine is a trace element and should be in your salt. You might
want to switch to a premium brand like:

From what I've been told Tropic Marin is the best. You shouldn't have to
check for trace elements if you do regular 25% changes every 2 weeks. As
long as you don't have fish. Let the salt do your trace element maintenance.
In something as small as 10g I don't think you have much choice.

Thanks. I have a 10g tank and I bought a test kit. It looks like I'm zeroing
in on 3ml/wk. 2ml doesn't even register on the test and I change water 10%
(1g)/wk.

If you're using good salt it shouldn't be a problem. I use Red Sea salt
because I can't afford Tropic Marin but TM is the choice of the pros.

10% a week should be fine as long as you don't have fish. Use RO/DI water
and check your PH base line.

I never check iodine. I only monitor nitrates and then check to be sure the
salinity is correct. Calcium/Magnesium is a function of the salt and
controlled with 25% water changes every 2 weeks.
