Preparing beef heart
Staring my venture into preparing my own foods, got myself a big beef heart,
and a pack of knox geletin. So now I star at it wondering what to do. I'm thinking I cut the heart into slices, trim the fat/veins, etc. Toss into a blender, mulch it up a bit, add a bit of water and geletin, and put into ice cube trays. How's that sound? Pretty close to what the store stuff is? (Probably better from what I heard...fish food suppliers using "dead" meat, rather than slaughtered meat.) |

There are LOTs of recipe's out there for a beefheart mix, most suggest adding spirulina in some form, usually found at a health food store or spinach as well as a powdered vitamin tablet or two. Some recommend other veggies like peas. Some recipes state that it needs to be reduced to a fine paste in the blender, others claim that small chunks is small enough. Depends on the size of the fish and how much extra protien and vitamin content you wish to add. http://mike-edwardes.members.beeb.ne...html#beefheart is a good recipe that I have used to help get fish up to breeding condition. However, with ANY beefheart mixture, you have to be sure that it is either ALL eaten, or that you remove ALL uneaten food within hours... the sooner the better so that it doesn't destroy your water quality. |

they are talking about? |

Jello without the sugar, coloring or flavor... holds everything together.
