Lighting for aquariums

I've always wondered what a metal halide light would do for my 75
gallon full of great looking goldfish. Has anyone done this? Is this
type of light good for this fish and live plants? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ed

Lighting for aquariums

I'm still fairly new to keeping aquariums, but I am familiar with lighting
for plants from my experience with Bonsai trees. Those lights produce so
many lumens, that any plant will love them, including algae. Using them in
an aquarium is like asking for a disaster! When I used them for my trees,
they caused growth spurts that I wanted. But unless you want a serious
growth spurt of plant material in your tank, your better off with standard
low intensity lighting.
