Tank #2 by
Zebulon
Tank #2, 650g (give or take a few) drained down today. Water parameters the
same. There was more debris on the bottom which we expected since it's
closer to the woods and more leaves and twigs blow through the net. There
was also many small dead koi on the bottom and a unpleasant swampy odor....

Tank #1 is in shade from the house in the winter. Full sun in summer.

Water Hyacinths and greenhouses by
Zebulon
I mentioned here before that I bought a small Greenhouse from Harbor Freight
this past summer. It's heated and the plants are thriving - including my
water-lettuce. :-))) I sprayed them for insects so no problems with that.
Now I'm looking forward to buying water hyacinths next spring and...

Swimming dog.......rec ponds by

See here is yet an example of how long ago that post was made and yet
the person that said they liked it was a person that was just a
lurker back then and no one ever seen hide nor hair of. But they are
still very well versed in what goes on and how thngs are in rec.ponds.
And I doubt very...

Do you need tadpoles in North Texas? by
jammer
I am very much doubting it, but if anyone in the DFW area needs any,
let me know!
I am in overkill mode on the tads.

We've been below freezing since Monday here in S.Central Washington(State),
Stock tank heater (1,000 watt) has been turned on ever since. Currently koi

Re; My earlier post "Koi heads off" by

For those of you who read my posting about a month ago where my
neighbours pond had been intruded by an unknown sourse and her Koi had
been left scattered about the garden and left with their heads off! We
have identified the culprit: It is mink!!!!!!!!!! Apparantly there
have been many other...

Pond Cover by
Peter Breed
After reading several websites that suggested covering a pond and
keeping the filter running during the winter I decided to give it a go.
My first attempt has used bigbubble bubble wrap covering about 70% of
the pond area and insulating the filter. This has been a spectacular
success with the...

Attn: true rec ponders I've heard back from Big-8 -george by
george@home.com
I know that the trolls are reading this as well as the true
rec.ponders.
I've received a long message back from a representative of Big-8.
They are aware of the situation, and I'm told that I don't need to
worry about false RFD's from the trolls.
I've given them my personal info, and I...

Moderated Newsgroups FAQ by
george@home.com
As you already know, I provided this link in my first followup to my
first post on Saturday.
It gives some basic info, but it is __hopelessly__ outdated.
Written in 1997. Most of what it says no longer applies.

Just returned after a year's absence. What about a Rec.Pond.Mod group by
Koi Lover
Hey George...go get a dam clue. Rec.ponds is dead, gonna stay dead,
and will never be what it once was. There is just too many other
forums that are moderated that are trashed or controlled by
priveledged jerks. They tried to make a moderated forum already and
its been trashed or used bery little....

Goldfish fry by
PatC
My Fantails spawned about 3 weeks ago & I moved the pots with the eggs in to
a new area that has no adult fish.
There were hundreds originally, but now there only seems to be about 40 or
so.
I have found a lot of dead or nearly dead fry in the last week. We have had
some very extreme weather here...

New Pond by
misterdj13
hello all!!!
We recently purchased a fish pond. we do not have any fish in it yet.
the question we have is for the the winter months do we just unplug the
filter or what do we do? We have a 12 inch waterfall and it is a rubber
liner. there isn't any fish or plant life yet. Thanks for your time
