What ISP's & NSP's are still not carrying rec.ponds.moderated?

If you ask me, it's the creation of rpm that cleaned rp by a lot.
Without it, nothing would have changed.

The discussion on news.groups strongly suggested that the moderated
group might well...

A lot of us share your liking for civil interction and have made the
switch. It is sad to see a good group like this wasted by hostility.

Overflowing Pond!

In an river or a lake we call that flooding. Ponds too. Ours
overflows in big rains. We built in a place for it to do that by
having a part of the cement edge that is 1 1/2" lower than the...

New pond/koi owner questions

Chereena,

Ingrid is right about lava rocks (lots of surface to start with, soon
clogged). It is good that they are not in your pond. Keep us posted
as to how your veggie filter does once the...

New fish behavior

The big ones won't harm a 5" small one. They may, however, be hard to
catch! Even when Jim isolated several in a 'neck' in the pond, they
were hard to catch and promptly jumped out over a screen...

New pond/koi owner questions

Your top pond sounds as though it could serve as a veggie filter.
Does it have 10% the surface of the lower pond? That is the
recommended minimum for a veggie filter.

If you have good root systems...

re.Koi Food -

Gill,

I did not see any advocating catfish food for koi. I wish I had. I
will take a closer look at the ingredients of the food I have been
using when I start up in the spring.

Jan,

Thanks for pursuing the article. Lots of good stuff in it.

She is very clear about not liking trout and catfish food. I am sorry

The benefits of UVC - newbie question

We found the UV not useful once the fall cold comes...the water is the
proverbial 'gin' (or tea) clear then. We run it in the spring and
as needed other times. It is easy to tell if it is needed...

Vets have done necropsies and verified the problems.

Jan,

Are any of their findings available to us?

The benefits of UVC - newbie question

Gill,

We use a Tetra UV to kill the algae. Works fine and is not really
needed all season. It is much nicer for us than waiting for the algae
bloom to pass. Some would feel that it is better to...

What would be the lowest water temperature survivable by either Koi or Goldfish?

Gill,

Jim and I circulate our pond water all winter here in Jackson. The
pump pulls from the bottom of the pond (deep well at 7'). That means
that the whole pond goes to 32 degrees when we have...

I would not care how many kittens a person threatened to kill on

kittens as OT and not suitable for a pond discussion. The rest of...
