How are the fish doing...I accidently deleted this newsgroup so I am a
bit behind any updates, which I hope are good!

Put some color in your cheeks...garden naked!
Well, the tank has settled:
pH 7.0, GH 10, KH 10, A0, Ni0, Na0. Plants are pearling away and growing
fast.
I dosed with Tri-Sulfur and Mela and PimaFix because Elaine T alerted me to
the fact it may not have been Flex at all, but a parasite -I am not sure
what it was - it had the symptoms of Flex, but also of the parasite, which
was a scarier proposition because they are microscopic to invisible and live
on the substrate. My meds wouldn't have fixed a parasitic infection but
certainly any bacterial ones. The water doesn't smell so earthy these days
either.
I lost altogether - 3 Swordtails, 8 Neon Tetras, 2 Hockey Stick Tetras and 4
SAEs = 17.
I have been cleaning the gravel every day for about a week now and I do an
at least 20% water change. Cleaner gravel seems to have made a difference.
After the "cull" I have decided to go with Gouramis and tetras.
I am just in an interim period now, where I am contemplating re-stocking,
establishing a preventative disease situation (as much as possible) and
counting my lucky stars I caught it and didn't lose everything.
The re-stocking will be slow - over months this time - for several reasons.
