The view is set to hide
read or ignored, yet when I first open the reader is shows some at the top
of the list. I swap the view around and they go away but they shouldn't be
there to begin with. Anyone know why this happens?

No. I've never been able to understand OE (and despite being a Linux geek,
I actually quite like OE). I really think you'd have an easier time
learning another news program than getting OE to behave.
