Placing the bubble curtain along the width of the right side of the tank
creates a counter-clockwise water current that augments the current created
by the water filter.
The previous airstone was releasing bubbles close to the water inlet of the
water filter, that probably reduced the effectiveness of the water filter.

The bubble curtain is anchored via suction cups about a half-inch above the
gravel, and I notice that fish-waste that used to accumulate all over the
tank is now accumulating in that half-inch area on the bottom right-side of
the tank, which makes it much easier to gravel vaccuum.


I have used the bubble wand before, but it got covered with algae and
quit bubbling. Also the suction cups didn't hold up. I like the
hefty airstone. The pyramid shap sounds like mine. I keep mine at
the center of the back so the flow is the same as the 2 Penguin
filters.

I never have any accumulation of fish waste to vacuum. I suppose it
is the food and how much one feeds. I feed only flake food. I know
my fish ship, but I seldom see it happening and never see it on the
bottom. I have 5 tanks ranging from 10 to 75 gallons and yet not one
has waste on the bottom. This includes a 10 gallon hospital tank with
no gravel. All of my tanks have live plants and power filters.

Glad you found something you like. You may have to change out the
wand every few months.
