Kirst,

Check your water conditions. Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH
Also how big is your tank?


Does the growths look like this?

Lumpy growths are usually viral and resolve with time. The very large
growth could also be caused by lymphocystis virus.

The eye problem is likely eye fungus. An antibacterial will not be as
helpful as a proprietary eye fungus treatment or malachite green.

I don't think your relative was taking very good care of the fish. :-(

Thanks for the picture but the growths on their fins do not look like that. We have not been able to purchase malachite green at our local shop but have bought another bacterial remedy so fingers crossed this will work. Unfortunately I do not know a lot about keeping goldfish but I am learning as I go along and appreciate the help I am getting of everyone on this site.
