My Yoyo Loach (Slinky) does not seem up to par. He seems to be hiding out a
lot more (wedging himself into tight spaces) and looks a bit pale. Last
night I found him between the heater and the glass. Tonight I couldn't find
him at all, even though I moved everything. I finally found him after the
second tear down, wedged inside a crevice on the underside of the Pagoda.
I realise his symptoms are a little vague, but any thoughts?
I have a lot of Clown Loaches in 3 tanks. There are 2 in a 10 gallon
tank. I mention them because their behaviour is so different. They
do stay together when both are visible, but one is shy and stays most
often in a "mill house" ornament. The other one also uses the mill
house, but is equally out and about.
I pull the ornament about every 6 months to clean the algae off. I
can expect to not see the shy Clown for several days afterward,
whereas the more socialble Clown hides only the first day.
I have only had one sick clown. He was a runt, but I had managed to
get him in a tank he liked, a 10 gallon hospital tank, but moved him
to another 10 gal to clean up the snails. He made a cave right off
and was not visible often. He did a good job on the snails, but was
out of sight, so I put him back (in my mind it was a "him") into the
hospital tank where he was obviously happy. Unfortunately I move him
once more to the snail infested tank where he died. He didn't seem
interested in the snails this time. I blame myself for "using" him
rather than accepting his obvious tank of choice.
I hope your clown is just a recluse.
