In any case, I have a small 8-10 gallon tank with a couple of little
angel fish and a Chinese Algae eater. I'm thinking of moving the Angel
Fish, and dropping the loaches in the little tank with the Algae eater
for a sort of hospital tank. Back in the day I successfully treated a
silver dollar with Ich with some kind of Blue drops. I'm guessing that
there is something similar, or the same, available today.
I am afraid that clowns are a poor choice for that type of setup. They
can become some 30 years old and during that time grow about a foot
long. In addition, they are herd animals and should be kept in groops of
5-6 minimum. That means you need something like 200-300 l (about 50 to
70 gallons) tank to properly keep them, unless you are prepared to sell
them when they outgrow their tank.
Clowns need hiding places, but will happily dig their own cave under a
root or something if the places provided do not meet with their
approval.
Have you tested your water for NH4, NO2 and NO3? You may be looking at a
mini-spike after adding new fish, even if your tank was properly cycled.
The blue drops may have been methylene blue, a dye with antibiotic
properties.
