60 gal reef tank, 6 years established. about 100lb live rock, 30lbs marine
sand, 20lbs aragonite in 6 gal refugium sump, 4x40w no's, 2 fish, many live
rock, unfinished stand
email for photos. this tank was converted to salt about 10 years ago, was
converted to a reef about 6 years ago. I have practiced building a self
sustaining eco-system. This tank is mostly self sufficient. minimal water
changes needed, balance has been struck. a multitude of self grown tube
worms, mushroom, many small reef natural born starfish and snails, tank
filters it self, no filters, just 6 gal sump and refugium. sump uses a
hanging siphon-wier overflow box. the pinewood stand is a year old, and is
extremely sturdy and has room for all equipment below.

a.. Clearly Perfection 6 gallon wet-dry sump converted to refugium (oops)
i mean refugium.
b.. 2 penguin 802 power heads, 1 in the sump 1in the tank for circulation
c.. Lights; 4xNO(fluorescent) 4-feet 40W/e. 160W total. 2x 50/50's
1xActinic and 1xCoral 10k, will need to upgrade for hard corals.
d.. Approx 2" Deep Sand Bed that is Sugar Fine White Marine Sand.
a.. approx 75-100lbs live/cycling rock, fills the middle of tank 2/3rds to
top.
b.. ProQuatics HydraMatic 300w Heater placed in external siphon box,
standard 100 watt backup heater.
c.. Latest Water parameters
d.. nitrate(no3) 0.0-2ppm /
e.. calcium hardness 7 DKH /
f.. ph 8.3
g.. Salinity 1.024
h.. temp /79
i.. calcium600ppm / Maybe the aragonite and superbuffer is keeping it
that high.
