Keep working on your wife and make sure to let her chose some of the
inhabitants. I've got hubby so sucked in he even wants to try out
snorkelling now

I added the live rock yesterday. The ammonia was .25 before I added the
rock, and jumped to 1.0 after adding it. I haven't tested yet today, but
I'm sure it's on the way up. PH was stable, as was salinity and the
skimmer has just started to produce foam (although very weakly at this
point).
The lights arrived this afternoon. It's a 36" Outer Orbit with 150w MH,
2 96w SunPaq dual actinics and 4 lunar lights. The whole thing is
running off a dual power center. Does anyone else hate the "feet" that
come with these things? Seems like it's just waiting for the slightest
nudge to throw itself off the tank... I'm seriously considering using
the mounting kit to hang it from the ceiling.
So, you're probably wondering what the "strike one.." subject line was
all about. Well, the wife tallied up the cost for this thing to date and
we're now looking at close to $1.5k invested with not a single fish or
inv. in the tank (yet). Luckilly however, I did bring her with me
yesterday when I bought the live rock at Greendale's in Kannapolis and
she's fallen head over heels for the look of a reef tank; I just need to
get her to be patient enough to let this one mature and grow in.
thanks,
