FWIW, and speaking from experience, a larger tank would be easier.
The rule of thumb, so I'm told, is buy the biggest tank you have
money and room for, for a variety of reasons. The most important one
IMO, is that the smaller the tank, the quicker water params can go to
hell due to the newbie mistakes we all make. It's only in the last
few years that smaller tanks became more than a pipe dream for the
common aquarist. Look up "nano reefs" on Google. Some people can do
amazing things with tiny marine tanks, but it takes some skill, IMO.
