Wouldn't carrying the tank with that much wet sand stress the seems of the tank too much though? Last thing I want to do is break the seals on it.

Buy some new trashcans ($7 at Home Depot) and use them to move water, rock and corals. Don't disturb your sandbed at all if possible.
