Hi..
Last weekend we had 15-20cm snow and I was able to collect
400 litre water! So I made an extra water change. My
fishes seem to love it. :-)
What are your experiences with snow water?
It's ok once you filter it through carbon. There's a black surface
scum on itwhen I melt it and I live where there's clean air
far awy from any city. Even the arctic has junk in the air now.
I live in the wide open spaces of Maine, near the beautiful Acadia
National Park. Acadia holds the distinction of having the most ozone
of all the national parks, and we go for periods in the summer when
people are cautioned to stay indoors if they are prone to respiratory
problems. Our rain carries pollutants from coal plants and industrial
centers a thousand miles away. The state issues a list as long as your
arm about what fish from what streams and lakes are unsafe to eat.
Like Richard above, even in clean air country, there's no telling what
is falling from the sky along with the snow or rain.
