I use MT-Newswatcher. There are many variants of the newswatcher
application, all of them free. It works great.

Then, unless your ISP already provides a newsfeed, you will need to set
yourself up with a free news server.

I gave it another try and found a mac supported client... Thunderbird.
I'm officially responding using my first ever newsreader! I have to
learn how to use the proper etiquette so be gentle on me everyone while
I learn my way around.

It's like joining the real world all of a sudden. Of course, I'm still
going to have to use Google while I'm at work.
