since I am always asking things I thought I would add something.
I have noticed some people on here are setting up new tanks or are
stopping by and are new at keeping fish, a few anyway, and have had
questions about certain fish fitting in tanks when full grown, along with
some other things, I always check Elmer's web page they have a list of
fish with the size they grow out to, along with some other info, but if
you want to know if a fish will fit later on its a good web page for
that, I don't know if Elmer's is worldwide but I have one in pgh, pa
http://www.elmersaquarium.com/nav/freshwater/index.html
anyway here it is if anyone is getting new fish and wants to know size,
temp ect.
Nik
Good post. I just want to remind people to use multiple sources. These
pages are sometimes written by people with more good intentions than
knowledge. Elmer's for example, indicates Frontosas (Cyphotilapia
frontosa) as being 8" algae eaters, when they are (afaik) specialized deep
water carnivores (not much algae at 30ft depth ;~) and they can grow to
13" or 16" in the wild (both of which are quite different from 8").
Lengths are also difficult to predict, due to the variables of water
conditions, diet and genetics. Some fish grow larger in the wild (ie:
Frontosa), while others might grow larger in an aquarium (ie: mbuna), so
don't view the size estimates you read as absolutes.

I'm going to see if i can get you guys a pic, my friend called the other day
she has a pl*co, she said this thing has got so big he is not comfortable in
her 55 gl, i said to her i did not know about that, he should be fine, she
insisted he has got a lot bigger, i stopped in and sure enough he is
outgrowing it, now growing up we had at least two fish tanks in each room
(my dad) and i have seen many but this thing is a monster, i was suprised, i
told her i wanted to come take a pic she said ok.
I'll see if i can stop by some time next week and take the pic and post it.
Nik
Yeah your right, all the pages differ some, but its a start, i have seen
some other good ones but not with as many types of fish.
there is a zebra pl*c on there i want one of those.
I think i got a neat idea for my 120 gl i'm going to finish looking and
i'll post it
