If I had anywhere near the amount of gallons that you have, I would
purchase my Melafix in the higher concentrated and less costly Pond
preparation. In fact, the next time I have to buy any, hopefully
never, I will probably get the concentrated stuff. Maybe I'll inquire
if the stuff stores well over a long period of time.

To save $$$ and product you can also drain down a tank and use a drop-in
sponge filter or bubble-up box filter.
I would be concerned that that would add stress at a time when I am
trying to relieve stress.

I would also be concerned about the stress involved for the fish - another
reason why I am reluctant to chase them round a 6 foot tank with nets to
put them elsewhere (if I actually had somewhere to put them).
An additional stress would be refilling the tank (for me) - hosepipe ban
as of next Monday and I'm not sure how I would cope with filling it back
up again with buckets....

you don't have one of those things you hook to the sink to drain /fill? I'm
going to get one before I fill up my 6ft tank, I don't think I could
convince the kids to carry that many buckets,
bet you were in shape or at least tired after filling that.
Nik
We filled most of it using the garden hose poked through the window and
trailed across the floor....I don't want to drain it mainly coz I'm
pretty sure I'm not fit enough to do it by hand as I would have to after
this weekend...water changes are bad enough :-)
