Oh well,...maybe I better just stick with live-bearing Platys, Fancy
Guppys, et cetera,...I have had three baby Corydoras catfish born here
just recently,...If I could only figure out just what it was that I did
right, maybe then I could try and raise them,...After all, of all of the
freshwater fish species, they are my most favourite. Any suggestions
folks?~Dean.
A water change, about 50%, take your time, let 'em alone in the
shallow water for an hour or so. Then begin refilling with water 2 or
3 or 4 degrees cooler. Run the water slowly, let it splash. And my
favorite part, I put on a recording of the 1812 Overture at high
volume, floor shaking bass, and turn lights on and off. I'm told that
heavy metal music works as well. Some people report banging skillets
with spoons. You will have replicated the dry season, and the stormy
return of the rainy season - which is a mating call to corydoras. I
supposed the Mystic Moods Orchestra Stormy Night album might work, or
perhaps Bolero, but I prefer the 1812. This has never failed to send
my corys chasing about and hooking up in the classic T position for
the rest of the afternoon. I remove the eggs from the aquarium glass
with a razor blade, and, with a cup of water never letting the eggs
hit the air, I transfer them to a gallon plastic box with a gentle air
bubbler, a plain air hose with nothing on it, or I like those rings
that send up non fizzy bubbles. Some folks use airstones. I prefer
real bubbles. I add MarOxy according to directions, most people add
methylene blue until the water is dark but you can still see the eggs.
Use a bulb syringe to remove eggs that turn opaque white, they're
dead. The little syringes they sell at the drug store to measure
baby's medicines work well. If you can't get the bad eggs out without
messing up the ones around it, it's OK, the M Blue or MarOxy will
prevent a fungal outbreak. Usually.

A Google search on Corydoras Spawning will get you lots more ideas.
And start thinking about how you're going to feed the babies before
they get here.
