Just got home from work and of course checked out my tanks. I took a
double take when looking at my 29g, it looked a tad cloudy, not the
norm. So I did some looking around the rocks and found my Bristle Nose
Pleco dead. Not just dead, but his guts apparently eaten out. He's lived
in this tank for over a year with a Black Ghost and a "Snowflake" Eel,
they have never seemed to have any problems at all. It's like a kick in
the head, I'm not happy. Damn!!

hmm, wood fibre, algae tabs, zuchinni, various algaes and wood fungus (as
Richard says) and they should stay fine. I don't put much credence in
this pl*co business, but my plec can't read cause he only comes out at
night, so I should be fine ;~). Being emptied out is typical, but
doesn't mean your carnivores did it. If a carnivore can flip a plec over
and keep em still, then it can be meal time (hard to do though).

So now I'm looking at one of my Frontys swim to the top of his tank and
"gulp" air and swim to the bottom and "burb", all good fun for him, but
I was under the impression this wasn't good for them. What the hell is
going on??????

LOL, Fronts will do that. The problem is when they swallow the air, not
when they mouth and release it.

OHH GREAT!!!, now my Oscar just jumped out of his tank!!!!! No, not
really, but that's how I feel.

Wait till you get home to the sound of water trickling down the stairs.
When my 120g let go of the top of the front glass, it dumped about 60g
before the glass got pulled back in. That much water will soak a Gerber,
so then it just follows a path gravity makes for it. Poor fish were in
water 12" deep (left in the tank) with the most bewildered expressions
;~).

2nd prize was when my daughter insisted that I could not take a Rainbow
shark to the pet shop just because it didn't fit with my plans, and that
I should set up a completely new aquarium for the shark, which apparently
had become her favourite fish. So I set up a 20g in her room, put the
fish in and the next morning, I find it dried up on the floor (they are
good jumpers and it had found a hole). Before my daughter could notice,
I'm going from pet shop to pet shop looking to buy a Rainbow shark - when
the original plan was to get rid of the one I had *grrrr*.

Oh Yeah??? Well my Angelfish put themselves in plastic bags and started
rolling themselves toward the canal across the street. Good thing I was
home to stop them, but then again, if I was at work I'm not sure they
could have unlocked the front door. Now if I could just figure out where
they got the plastic bags from.
I'm not really sure why I like these stupid thing so much.

I was trying not to laugh.
big tanks suck so hard when they let go.... can be dangerous too hey.
I secretly built a shmick little 4 globe MH light ballast. Took me a month
to save to buy bulbs (had to waste money on food and rent) and on the night
I put them on the tank, the octopus pulls them into the tank.
No one got hurt but it was a bloody ugly sound to hear from the tank in the
other room. And expensive for an hours metal halide rippling on da walls.
In the begining I tried to see silver linings, now I just work the numbers.
And I tells ya 9/10 fish swaps is detected by da kiddy. Maybe the rainbow
sharks are clone like enuf.... but people chasing shubunkins can be tricky,
even if they have photo's.

What kind of people must we aquarists be that we find ourselves
chuckling over horror tales.
