I quit using powerheads many years ago for this reason. I
like to use one big pump to run the whole system including
the protein skimmer.

I had a powerhead in the new tank which I left in there after I bought
the first anemone for it. Big mistake. He was badly damaged and
died, I'd forgotten how common that problem is...
