Default Eco Aqualizer or Skimmer?

ok cool I will have to get a sump because the tank does not have one it was
a freshwater with a pengiun 200 on it as the filter and that was it, so the
sump/skimmer is totally new to me haha I was looking at the
Aqua Medic Turboflotor T1000 Protein Skimmer and that does look like a real
nice one and its in a price range I can swing just not sure on the sump as
when I talk to the LFS (not petco or petsmart) they recommend me doing the
filter iwth a skimmer and I am sure they will recommend anything to make a
sell I mean if all I need is a nice skimmer and a sump add on somewhere then
that would be pretty easy to setup but I do not have another tank setup for
it anything this is in my living room this tank is by itself on a stand that
is it so I am trying to not have a bunch of stuff hanging around it I am
trying to make it so it either all sits under the stand or on the tank

again thank you so much for all your help

recommend with it would the emperor 400 be a good one to go with?

Just to follow up with what other people have said and to expand on some
of it. For filtration on a reef tank the best way to go is with a
natural filtration system. Use live rock and live sand as your primary
filtration. With that there are no filter devices you need on the tank
other than a protien skimmer. No emperor no canister just a skimmer.

Now speaking of skimmers the RSB is not real bad skimmer but you can get
ones a lot better for not much more money. Plus the Rio 2500 is to
small to run it well if you end up with the RSB go for a mag 7 or mag
9.5 or a RIO 3100 to get max performance from the skimmer. A better
skimmer in the same price range is the TurboFlotor T1000. It is
available as in sump unit(better) or as the Multi which can be use as a
hang on.

On skimmers, do not skimp in this area get a good skimmer, and to make
sure you get a good skimmer talk to as many people as you can most of
the poplular skimmers from most LFS ar not very good. Some good
affordable skimmers include the ASM skimmers, the Octopus skimmers, Euro
Reef (but spendy) etc. If you are setting up a sump normally you can
get a much more powerful in sump model for a lot less money than a
hangon, sometimes you can save enough money to pay for a lot of your
sump setup.

Refugium. A refugium is not really a filter, but it adds to the natural
filter system and is a great addition to any sal****er tank. To setup a
refugium all you need is an area in your sump or another tank online
your system or even an area in your main tank that you can grow some
macro algea and allow the pods to grow without preditaion.
