Any other suggestions? Looking for help deciding on PC vs MH.

Before I can help you at all, I need to know how deep the 100 gallon
tank is, and what creatures you want to keep. Lots of SPS corals
needs more light than lots of mushrooms and soft corals.

I meant to also include that I'm only planning on soft corals at this
time. I suppose if if I could place a few SPS at the top of the rock
work that would be nice.

The tank is 60" long, 20" tall, 18" deep. Live rock up the back almost
to the surface and 3-5" substrate.

I'm looking for balanced performance; getting the tank the way it is
already pushing my budget but I don't want to skimp out and buy
something that I'm just going to need to turn around and replace in a
few months either.

With that in mind, I would either go with pc's, T5HO bulbs or VHO setup.
You don't need MH's and going with the other setups would be less
expensive You could go with 6 48" T5ho setups and just offset them to
each end of the tank. This would give you a 1 foot section in the
middle with bright light for SPS corals and the rest of the tank for
your softies.
