Bettas and bubbles...
I wouldnt put a betta in any..
first, betta's dont like a lot of bubbles...in fact many HATE it
second..the tetras/neons are 'too nippy'.. will be a problem
the platys would be your best bet if you turn off the bubbles
however, some platys will nip at long fins...and also, with 'light
color' platys, such as gold, the betta may think it is another
betta...with the obvious bad results...

I actually have two questions. I have three 5 gallon tanks (started
with one but made a big oops and had to get 2 more). Two of the tanks
have bubble curtains in them because I like the way they look. Should
they be turned off at night or can I leave them on? I can't see any
detriment to leaving them on but I thought I'd ask.
My second question is about adding a beta. I'd like to add a beta to
one of my tanks but I'm unsure about the requirements/tankmates
suitable for one. The tank I want to add him to will be cycled in
about 2-3 weeks (so I wouldn't be adding him until it is), and has 2
black tetras and 2 neons in it. The black tetras seem a little
aggressive (with one constantly chasing or nipping the other).
The other tank that I have the option of putting him in is already
cycled and only has 2 platies in there. They're very passive and
don't bother each other at all.
Which tank would he be better off in?
