Default How Often should you..

There's not much beneficial bacteria in the water to worry
about. The best bacterial filtration takes place attached
with water flowing over it. Basically for bacteria
filtration, the more surface area for the bacteria to
grow, and the more water flow going over it the better.
Bacteria in the water is not able to do much filtering.

I have a canister filter system with bio media as well as carbon media for
my 75 gal (75 lbs LR) FOWLR. I use to change the carbon every time I do a
partial water change. I read somewhere that I'm getting rid of too much
bacteria at one time. If this is true, how often should I change the carbon
in the filter or was the article wrong?
Thanks
